Water Damage- Backup from Septic Tank
This is a before and after look at our response to water damage from a backup in the septic tank. The toilet in the bathroom ran overnight, flooding the bathroom, hallway and two bedrooms with waste. Due to the unsanitary nature of the water and the health hazards, we had to remove the affected carpet and pad, as well as the bottom portion of the wall in the bathroom to properly sanitize the area.
Health Hazards
Sewage damage can include infectious microorganisms, bacteria, amoebae and viruses and other pathogens which present health hazards. SERVPRO technicians are trained on how to handle these type situations. Care should be taken to protect the occupants of the home as well as the technicians doing the work. Cross contamination is a primary concern. If only a portion of the home is affected, then containment should be built to protect the unaffected areas of the home.
